The past two weekends have included visits to local museums. Last Saturday, I had the opportunity to visit the Reginald F. Lewis Museum of Maryland African American History and Culture. This museum offers exhibits focused on African American history specific to Maryland. Some of the more prominent exhibits focus on the slave trade in Maryland and Harriet Tubman’s connection to the Eastern Shore. There was a special exhibit that focused on the perception of black males in America which was very poignant and timely.
I encourage you to visit the museum if you ever visit Baltimore. It is located near the Inner Harbor, convenient to the other popular tourist sites. For more information, visit their website.
This past weekend, I visited the Baltimore Museum of Art. It offers free admission to the public. The Baltimore Museum of Art has exhibits that showcase art from many parts of the world including Europe, Asia, and Africa. My favorites were pieces by Rodin, Matisse, and Picasso. The contemporary art exhibit if fantastic also. Visit their website to view more details about current special exhibits.
I am glad I was able to visit these awesome local museums. Feel free to share and comment below!
